-- The MFA presents the first in its series of two magic lantern performances. The Spirit of '76 is a modern reenactment of a 1890s touring magic lantern show about the founding of the United States. Presented by Terry Borton, a scholar and fourth-generation magic lanternist. Remis Auditorium, Museum of Fine Arts, 3:00pm. $10/$8.

Chinese Rock

-- Chinese Stars, a Providence supergroup composed of former members of noise rock bands Six Finger Satellite and Arab on Radar, make angular, bouncy spazz rock. Playing with Cambridge outfit Big Digits, who make electro for the Ritalin set. Middle East Upstairs, 472 Mass. Ave., Cambridge, 9:00pm. $10.

Theatre

-- It's the play that introduced the phrase "angry young men" to British literary criticism. The Orfeo Group completes its run of John Osborne's Look Back in Anger, a stark treatment of a young, emo jazz performer and the emotional maelstrom he whips up. Factory Theatre at the Piano Factory, 791 Tremont St., 8:00pm (closes Sunday). Free.

Reggae

-- Boston's Dis N Dat Band, which includes a former drummer for reggae mainstays Black Uhuru, play in an updated roots style, incorporating elements from hip-hop and neo-soul. Western Front, 343 Western Ave., Cambridge, 9:00pm. $10.
