SportsRedux: Yankee Doodle Dud
After a five game losing streak, the Sox seem to have found their groove back. And doesn’t it feel good that they got it just in time to play the Yankees? In honor of Independence Day the red, white and blue Red Sox beat the Yankees 6-4.
Josh Beckett looked shakey the first inning, giving up three runs. But the Red Sox responded and tied the game in the third and also got former Red Sox/ current idiot Yankee, Johnny Damon taken out of the game. Damon dived backwards to catch a ball launched by Kevin Youkilis and wasn’t successful. Damon was taken out and left the field to get a MRI, this will be his first trip to the DL in his 14 years in the majors .
Joe Girardi held a private team meeting and refused to discuss the topics of the meeting with the press. One can only assume it was something similar to what Hank Steinbrenner laid out on the team. Or maybe he was discussing playing grab ass with Shaughnessy , who’s suddenly feels sorry for the Bronx Bombers. Searching for a new shtick since the whole Curse of the Bambino nonsense has run its course?
