Beverly Contends to Be Preggers City, Mass.
Beverly's offensive Horribles parade float that made fun of Gloucester's recent spate of teen pregnancy may have been sour grapes. It turns out that the much wealthier Beverly only lags 25 teen pregnancies behind its Cape Ann neighbor for the title of Preggers City, MA. Meanwhile, despite recent headlines, Gloucester's teen pregnancy rate has actually declined 45% over the past decade. [Herald]

Everyone needs to stop focusing on who is more pregnant than who. Obviously these two communities (and many other) have a problem with teen pregnancy, how about we stop talking about stupid terrible teenage mistake and instead focus on the terrible parenting trend.
No one wants their kids to learn about safe sex because that means they'll want to have sex. I'm sorry but the libido of a teenage dictates whether or not they want to get it on...not their ciriculum or whether or not condoms are readily available.
I live in Lawrence and teen pregnancy rates are not something to make a pissing contest out of. What needs to happen is someone needs to step up and teach these kids there are serious consequences to these types of actions, these robot babies are not doing their jobs.
