Veggiest Talks Celebrities

hollywood.jpg
Let's face it, as a culture we just can't get enough celebrity news and gossip. Activism by celebrities then is a useful tool in getting the word out about a veg lifestyle. Veganism got a great push recently by the Queen of All Media herself, Oprah Winfrey. Oprah went on a 21-Day cleanse during which she abstained from all animal products, gluten, caffeine, alcohol, and sugar. She talks about the process on her blog, and while she won't be sticking with her vegan diet, she talks about how much she has learned throughout the month. Check out the cleanse section of her website for some great vegan recipes and information. We don't always buy into the Oprahverse, but the woman definitely has major media pull and we're happy to see her using that power to extol the benefits of veganism.

Another celebrity that has recently brought his veganism to the media's attention is Russell Simmons. An unlikely activist, but another force in the entertainment industry, Russell recently spoke about his veganism on CNN. Check out the video and what he has to say about how veganism makes him feel physically and emotionally.

The Kansas City Chief's Tony Gonzalez, arguably the NFL's best tight-end, tried maintaining a vegan diet while remaining competitive in a highly-demanding sport. Although he of course received a lot of flak from his teammates and throughout the sports world, Tony's performance did not suffer and his life and diet are forever changed. Read about it on his official website.

Another surprising vegan - Geoffrey Giuliano, one of the actors who played Ronald McDonald. He was so horrified by factory farming that he gave up the position in favor of a clear conscious.

For an extensive list of vegetarian and vegan celebs check out the Happy Cow. Though some are unverified, it's a fun list for you to peruse and learn that you're in good company with your conscientious lifestyle.
