Trolley A/C Makes "Hot" Debut

Trolley Non-Mattapan trolley photo by Virachoca76 Well, the MBTA strikes again. While Dan Grabauskas drove home in the comfort of his air-conditioned SUV yesterday, Mattapan commuters were sweating it up in their new "air-conditioned" trolley. The T had proudly trumpeted yesterday afternoon's debut of A/C on the Mattapan line's 60-year-old trolley cars, which had to be retro-fitted with air conditioning systems. However, the Globe reports today that the A/C was far from functional. An inverter failed, rendering the new units ineffective.

The Mattapan to Ashmont trolleys had been--and now still are--the only MBTA services without A/C. The MBTA says it will "fix" the systems by the end of the summer--just in time for the hottest days of the year! Er, wait... At least Danny boy doesn't ride the T, so he won't have to suffer.
