Head to the Brattle for one of summer's finest events--the trailer treats and the trailer smackdown. The Brattle Theatre not only unfurls some of the goofiest trailers it has on hand, but they also show off the finalists in their annual "Trailer Smackdown" competition. This year, local filmmakers were told that they could make any trailer they liked, as long as it included certain elements of genre, location, character and action and had the name "86."
Bostonist had the pleasure of attending last year and saw how various teams interpreted the word "Miranda," including tongueless, revenge-seeking prostitutes who "put the 'whore' in horror" (trailer NSFW). The trailers rivaled the celluloid B-movie trailer goofiness that the Brattle dug up from its vault, easy. Couple B-movie trailers with aspiring filmmakers with free-flowing PBR, and you have quite an event.
