Bostonist Style: Off Target & Boston’s Newest Boutique

Richard ChaiWe squealed with joy when we found out that Monica Botkier was teaming up with Target to do a line of bags for the discount giant. Sadly, the bags, which are available online now and should be in stores by July 20, are a major disappointment. Maybe we expected too much, but these bags look like cheap knockoffs you’d buy at a polyester-filled teenage dirt mall shop.

And they’re handbags aren’t the only they that’s off target at the bull’s eye. Richard Chai is the latest designer to join the GO International team of high end designers catering to the masses. Chai’s line seems to be filled with clothing that will not flatter any form. From tight black corduroy Bermuda shorts to plaid cowl neck Holly Hobby dresses, the line is filled with looks we don't see many people running out and buying.

For those of you who are looking to shop, but don’t have the time to get out to the stores or don’t want to spend the money on gas, we would like to welcome you to the world of Ruelala. Ruelala.com is an invitation-only site based out of Bostonoffering sales on clothes and accessories we’d be stupid not to take advantage of! The site has already featured sales from Theory and Joseph Abboud and you can’t beat the prices they’re being sold at. Sales change pretty regularly, and the items move quickly, so get on the bandwagon before you’re too late!
