Bite Size News

The Boston Massacre whupped the Ohio Roller Girls, 183 to 5, on Saturday night.

  • We don't know much about the nude airplane passenger that was restrained by members of the Revolution, except that he's from Hudson and was on the high school football team. Oh, and he's previously been arrested on alcohol-related charges. [Boston Herald]

  • Ten soccer fans were injured by lightning in Dorchester while standing under a tree. All were clothed. [Boston Herald]

  • There's a concrete reason for slowing down the trains on the Longfellow Bridge, but the Red Line could be back to normal speed by August. A $250 million renovation is expected to begin in 2011. [Boston Globe]

  • Three women were ordained were ordained as Roman Catholic priests at a Back Bay church. The Vatican says, "Oh-no, you didn't!" [Boston Channel]

  • Fares from Logan International to the most popular destinations have increased by 27.5% over the past year compared to the 13.8% national average. [Boston Globe]

  • More people are riding Amtrak's Downeaster line in the past year. Its 28% increase is the largest gain of any Amtrak line. [WBZ]

  • A Boston police officer who joined the force in 2006 died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound this weekend at her home in Southie. [Boston Herald]

Is it me or has there been many more incidents of people getting struck by lightning lately?

I haven't noticed, but I hope a "lightning czar" is appointed to look into it! :-)
