Bostonist Style: Winter Wonderland meets Summer of Savings

MKAO Fashion PartyAfter a heat wave followed by what one can only describe as monsoon season, it seems only fitting that we give you a preview of some affordable fashions for the winter.

Perennial mall favorites Victoria’s Secret and the stores of Gap Inc. revealed some of their looks for the upcoming winter season. We fell in love with a cobalt blue satin dress from Banana Republic that would look perfect at any holiday party. Unfortunately, it’s the only colored piece to really expect from the mature older sibling of Gap Inc. On the other hand, Gap's younger and cash conscious sibling, Old Navy, will be featuring four sweaters in different patterns and every hue of the rainbow.

The Jan Brady of the clan, The Gap, will be featuring a lot of plaid (a trend that Victoria’s Secret will also be participating in), and something that can only be described as ballet-inspired loungewear.

As previously mentioned, plaid will be a part of VS’s winter line, so if you’re looking to get your lumber jack on you’re in luck! Even though we’re not to keen on the cashmere bras and panties that will be available, the wrap sweaters look to be the perfect fit this winter.

For those of you looking for a deal, may we point in the direction of Nordstrom? Yes, one of our favorites is having its annual anniversary sale and, with prices like these, you’d be silly not to take advantage. This sale is best known for the beauty buys that you wouldn’t normally find in the stores. It’ll be going on until August 3rd, so what are you waiting for?
