-- Boston's Film Race begins tonight. Teams will have 24 hours to complete an original short film that will screen at the Brattle at the end of the month. The best film will win $35,000. Film dropoff location is The Otherside Cafe, 407 Newbury St. Contest begins tonight at 10:00pm, but registration is due by 5:00pm. [More information]

-- Danger Diabolik (1968) is Italian horror master Mario Brava's rarely screened heist movie. The film, which stars John Phillip Law, Marisa Mell, and the ineffable Michel Piccoli was based on an Italian comic book. (In Italy, the thieves are the heroes.) Though the movie has the distinction of featuring in the final episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000, it is absolutely not to be missed if you like violence and hipness.
