Sports Redux: Manny Being A Menace

redsoxlogo.JPGSupposedly, Manny will be participating in today’s game. But we still have another hour or so before he’ll probably change his mind. Last night, the team could have used Ramirez in the 1-0 loss to the Yankees .

It was a pitcher’s duel through out the night, but unfortunately, Joba Chamberlain won this round. Joba threw for seven innings, giving up three hits and striking out nine batters. Josh Beckett who was also in for seven innings gave up nine hits, one run and struck out six. The loan run scored last night came in the top of the third when Jason Giambi knocked Bobby Abreu in on a single.

As mentioned before Manny was a late scratch last night and it seems that Manny being Manny isn’t tolerated during a contract year. Both Boston papers ran columns proclaiming their disgust with the all-star and already throwing money on the table and betting he’s not going to be back next year. Are we annoyed with this act, of course! But he does produce runs and he’s a good ballplayer. But is it really worth it? Do we want to deal with all things Manny for another two years? Maybe trading for Matt Holliday isn’t that bad of an idea after all?

This afternoon the Sox send Tim Wakefield on the mound to against Andy Pettitte.

I was at the game today so I saw Manny playing in an actual game involving the Red Sox. I heard some actual boos directed at him, which could have been Yankee fans.

I also have a picture of Manny exiting the scoreboard after a break from the action.

Hey Bostonist crew,

How about some copy editing, huh? Lots of grammatical miscues in this one.
