Boston Not That Irish? Literary Lessons

Brainiac brings up Matthew L. Jockers' recent paper, "Beyond Boston: Georeferencing Irish-American Literature," which maps the setting of novels by Irish-American authors over 200 years (1800 to 2000). New York, Illinois, and California all beat out Massachusetts as novel settings. On his own blog, Jockers further explains his methodology and findings, which include that Irish-American writers in the West were generally more prolific than those in the East. C'mon, Boston Irish: put down that whiskey and start writin'!
