yeah, I wouldn't call this a great deal, nor would I call it a bad one. Sometimes if you just need to dump a player it costs you more and that's what happened here. Losing Moss stinks but freeing up $13M for next year and getting a player of similar caliber who's also younger.

They paid in $$ and players to get rid of Manny. They wanted him gone, regardless of cost. Bay's stats are comparable to Manny's and he's a better player in the field. Bay is cheaper, too but that also gives them another $13 million to spend elsewhere in '09.

So the Dodgers now have Nomar, D.Lowe and Manny. Billy Mueller works for them, I think....who's next from the '04 WS team to sign with them? Tek? Schill? I pitty Joe Torre.

Manny's thinking he's being all smart, too, but he's used to getting all kinds of attention. In LA, he's just another wacky dude.

Not happy about losing Moss... RE//ESPN's Rob Neyer: "Yeah, I think this is a fantastic deal for the Red Sox, as they've got Bay next season for $7.5 million. See, this is why they win ever year ... they're just smarter than everybody else. " Talk to me in October and we'll see how smart the Sox are.

They had to include Hansen and Moss? That is way too much, only getting Bay back. Could we at least have gotten Grabow from the Pirates too? "To quote Samuel L. Jackson in just about any movie: "I don't have a good feeling about this.""
