Presidential Hopefuls
-- Rumor has it that presidential candidate Barack Obama will make an appearance in Boston today, his birthday. The event is expected to raise four million dollars, which would be a record for Massachusetts. 800 people are expected to attend, and Bostonist wasn't invited. If you were, or if you happen to see the senator strolling around Government Center, snap us a picture, will you? [WBUR]
Speakers
-- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi discusses her autobiography Know Your Power: A Message to America's Daughters. We know. Obama writes pithier book titles. Show up early, as seating is limited. John F. Kennedy Library & Museum, Columbia Point, 5:30pm. Free.
Rock Against Bush
-- America's rock underground must have had scheduling conflicts when it came to rocking against Bush; they didn't get around to it. Making up for lost time (and completing the blue state trifecta for today's Happenings) is the No More Bush Tour, which celebrates the hapless president's impending departure. Boston's Sunburned Hand of the Man, a sludgy psych rock outfit, headlines, with support from Damon Krukowski (half of Damon and Naomi), acoustic guitar savant Jack Rose, and Byron Coley, Western Mass.'s answer to Lester Bangs. P.A.'s Lounge, 345 Somerville Ave., Somerville.
