Peace Concert 2008: Boston Throws Its Umbrellas Up for Hip Hop

Bostonist made our way to City Hall Plaza on Sunday to catch the 2008 Peace concert, a free hip hop event sponsored by the city and featuring classic hip hop artists EPMD, Das EFX, and Chubb Rock as headliners. We'd been hoping to get a shot of Our Popular Mayor popping and locking along with the b-boys. Instead, we ended up with drenched trousers and a long ride home on the Orange Line.

The show was postponed a little before five o'clock, and we'd thought it had been canceled. Later on, Menino declared that the show must go on. And it did. And we missed it.

But we did see many fantastic umbrellas.

Despite the clouds overhead, Boston's hip hop faithful had piled into City Hall Plaza, lured by the smattering of Boston acts scheduled to play the 2008 Peace concert. Or maybe it was headliners Chubb Rock, Das EFX, and EPMD. (C. Fernsebner )
