When Bostonist arrived at the Hendrick's-sponsored Beantown Bartender Battle last night, we found a table piled with gleaming cocktail shakers, cans of Barritt's ginger beer, copious bottles of gin, Pimm's No. 1, and our favorite saints, Germain and Elizabeth. And that was the tip of the iceberg.
At 7 o'clock, the upstairs of Green Street was resplendent with the sound of cocktail shakers put to use, vigorously, by Misty Kalkofen, as well as Evan from the Independent. In the four available drinks, the gin was ably assisted by Chartreuse, Aperol, and their ilk. A very brief and unscientific survey found that Ms. Kalkofen's own Olympia was "frothy and delicious" (agreed) and that the Secret Garden (the cilantro-infused winner of a previous Hendrick's competition) was drinkable to a degree that bordered on dangerous (agreed).
