As if we really needed another reason to love the Cambridge Brewing Company, here they go again making us fall head over heels. A new brew? Not this time. CBC has proven that it's the kind of company that stands by its own. The kind of company that sells beer to support good causes and not just to make money.
Head brewer and really nice guy Will Meyers recently announced an event to raise funds to help out an old friend: the first head brewer at CBC, Darryl Goss. Goss is the man responsible for one of this Bostonist’s favorite CBC brew, the Bitchin’ Bitter. (You have to try one!) He also may have been the first in America to create a Belgian-style ale, the Tripel Threat. (Try three!) Sadly, two years ago Goss was diagnosed with ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Meyers and the rest of the gang at CBC are hosting this event to help pay for those elements of care that are not fully covered by health insurance.
On August 14th at Flat Top Johnny’s, conveniently located next to the CBC, you can help to raise funds for Goss and at the same time catch a couple of live acts. The Men, Autumn Circle, and Bunzey Park will all be performing that night. Topping it off is a silent auction and a pool tournament. To attend, show up at 6 p.m. and add your donation to the collection at the door ($15 is suggested). As if the fun alone weren’t enough, you can drink contentedly knowing every last dollar of every last beer fan’s donation will go directly to Goss.
You’ll feel warm and fuzzy times two. And it won't just be the beer.
Meyers added that if you can’t come but still would like to support Goss, you could send a check or money order to:

Week Around the Ists, November 1–7

If you're a fan of drinking on Thursdays, you can come to On Your Feet Project's anniversary party on August 21. We're fun, we like to drink, and we're turning three! Well, the organization, not us personally.
