[UPDATED:] The first week of September brings two conferences to Boston about subjects most people erroneously think are exclusive to Silicon Valley: software entrepreneurship and web marketing. Boston is a hub for this technology despite the focus of attention on the West Coast.
On September 3-4, The Business of Software Conference is happening and some major folks in the blogosphere, we're talking bloggers from the Technorati Top 100, will be there. Here's just some of the speakers for the event:
* Joel Spolsky, founder of Fog Creek software, author of several books and the man behind the joelonsoftware blog - a touchstone for developers, entrepreneurs, and anyone involved with producing or marketing software products.
* Seth Godin, marketing and entrepreneur guru, is the best-selling author of 7 books (including "Permission Marketing" and "Purple Cow")
* Eric Sink, founder of SourceGear, author of "Eric Sink on the Business of Software" and the person who coined the term "Micro ISV"
* Tom Jennings is a Managing Director at Summit Partners, a private equity and venture capital firm with offices in Boston, Palo Alto and London.
* Dharmesh Shah is serial entrepreneur, founder of Cambridge's HubSpot and blogger at OnStartups.com
* Steve Krug is author of the web design religious text "Don't Make Me Think! A Common Sense Approach to Web Usability"
* several more speakers and sessions.
a few days later, on September 8th, the Inbound Marketing Summit happens in Cambridge. Speaking at this conference will be:
* Seth Godin (again!)
* David Meerman-Scott - emarketing guru
* Amy Bermar - president of Corporate Ink, _the_ technology PR company
* Brian Halligan and Dharmesh Shah, co-founders of Cambridge based SEO platform, Hubspot, and their VP of Marketing, Mark Volpe [UPDATE: Dharmesh will be speaking at this event as well!]
* and at least 6 more notable speakers
There's only a couple dozen tickets left for the Inbound Marketing Summit according to the website and The Business of Software will also be heavily attended so if you are interested in software, entrepreneurship, and web marketing see if you can't get into these events. Bostonist will post a summary of each day of these events.
