Tuesday Happenings

ophibre.jpgFree Bowling

-- If you can make it through an entire evening of indie pop, Milky Way presents a free candlepin bowling tournament, sponsored by Coors. Music provided by DJ Andrew, of the band Pants Yell!. Milky Way Lounge, 403 Centre St., Jamaica Plain, 9 p.m. Free.

Dancing Hipsters

-- Work Night is a dance party for those who want to make Wednesday's hump all the more daunting by giving themselves a beats hangover. Featuring Mayhem, Lone Wolf and Ryan Durkin behind the wheels of steel. Enormous Room, 567 Mass. Ave., Cambridge, 9:30 p.m. Free.

Ladies' Night

-- The event's name, "Girlie Drinks and Desserts," might have you puking before you even get to Brookline, but expect to learn a thing or two about desserts and booze. It's an event for women only, for what it's worth, and Bostonist supposes that it helps if you are the sort of woman who refers to yourself as a "girl." Finale Coolidge Corner, 1306 Beacon St., Brookline, 6:30 p.m. $29.95, with a reservation.

The Out Sound

-- Semata Productions' Coup d'Etat music series continues with another showcase of avant-garde music. Bhob Rainey's ensemble BSC plays jazz of the electro-acoustic variety, and Ophibre makes minimalist sound art. The Piano Factory, 791 Tremont St., 8 p.m.
