Boston Blotter: Man Shot Dead in Dorchester, Trials in Progress

033107_body_outline.jpg-- A 25-year-old man man was shot dead yesterday afternoon on King St. in Dorchester, the victim of multiple gunshot wounds, according to Boston police. The victim has not been identified and no arrests have been made. [BPDNews]

-- Whitey Bulger's hit man says he would have popped Whitey, had he known that the mob boss was also an FBI informant. John Martorano, who has been convicted of 20 gangland killings, gave candid testimony yesterday in the murder trial of former FBI agent and Bulger accomplice John Connolly. [Globe]

-- The trial of Arnaldo Lopes, whose alleged murder of a 23-year-old acquaintance sparked a 1995 gang war in Boston's Cape Verdean underworld, began today. Lopes, who was 17 at the time of the killing, claims that he knifed Bobby Mendes in self-defense. [Globe]

-- A Dorchester man whom Cambridge police nabbed in Brockton last Friday for a 2006 drug murder has seen his arraignment postponed until Monday after it became known that his attorney has already represented a co-defendant in the case. [Cambridge Chronicle]

-- Clarence Newcomb, 40, of Manchester, N.H., stands accused of selling rape drugs and child pornography out of the Danvers hotel where he worked. [Herald]
