Greeks
-- The South End Grecian Festival kicks off today with Greek food, music and dancing. Our operatives on the ground have not confirmed whether Ouzo will be involved, but keep your fingers crossed. St. John the Baptist Church, 15 Union Park St., South End, 6 p.m. Free. Through Sunday.
Movies
-- The HFA presents a pair films from Edward Yang, a master of the New Taiwanese Cinema. Never heard of such a thing? You're not alone—Yang's films are rarely screened in the U.S. Yang is a poet of alienation, and the core of his vision, relationships tethered by violence, fuels The Terrorizer (1986). A Confucian Confusion (1994) marks a rare moment of comedy in Yang's career. Harvard Film Archive, 24 Quincy St., Cambridge, 7 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. $8/$6.
New Music
-- ICA's Ditson Festival of Contemporary Music continues with contemporary performance juggernaut The Dinosaur Annex, who perform works from Scott Wheeler, Barbara White, Richard Beaudoin, Brian Robison, and Ezra Sims. The Cantata Singers join Collage New Music to close out the evening with performances of work by Donald Sur, Irving Fine, David Rakowski, and Dalit Warshaw. Institute for Contemporary Art, South Boston, 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. $15-$40.
Hometown Hip Hop
-- Boston hip hop gets little love from the rest of the country, which means you have to hug it extra hard when you run into it. With talent like Akrobatik, Big Shug, Esoteric, 7L, and random rap trivia answer Edo G (whom we hear is huge in Japan), Beantown stays represented tonight. Harper's Ferry, 158 Brighton Ave., Allston, 8 p.m. $15.
