Globe Reporter Resigns After Email Sex Scandal

Tania deLuzuriaga, the Boston Globe reporter whose sexy emails became the flashpoint of a cross-country scandal earlier this month, has resigned from the paper. In 2007, while she covered the schools beat for the Miami Herald, deLuzuriaga purportedly exchanged a series of explicit emails with Alberto Carvalho, then an associate superintendent of the Miami-Dade school system. Carvalho is married. The billets-doux, which, if genuine, revealed an illicit relationship on the brink (and somewhat more about deLuzuriaga's grooming habits than Bostonist cared to learn), compromised the professional ethics of both parties. DeLuzuriaga has been on leave since the scandal broke and formally resigned today, according to Poynter Online. In a classic American twist of sexual double-standards, Carvalho kept his job—as Miami-Dade schools superintendent.

It would be more appropriate for the MARRIED one in this situation to resign, not to mention he's in charge of thousands of children! Personally, I think personal stuff should have no bearing on your work or job, unless it's impacting your performance... but clearly the rest of America doesn't feel that way.
