Light Shows
-- Before planetariums had lasers, underground artists provided the light show backdrop to the world's psychedelic bands. Ken Brown was a master of the art form. He provided the swirly, sometimes hilarious, sometimes hokey light effects at the legendary Boston Tea Party, a South End venue that hosted everybody from the Velvet Underground to Led Zeppelin. Brown's Super 8 films will be screened (without additional lighting effects) accompanied by live music from Chris Butler, Bob Moses, Willie Alexander, Ken Winokur, P. Andrew Willis, and DJ Pace. Presented by Balagan. Coolidge Corner Theatre, 290 Harvard St., Brookline, 7:30 p.m. $12/$10.
College Nights
-- It's not a kegger (we think), but the MFA is throwing a party for Boston's many college kids. College Night is free for credentialed students and features a legitimate, DJed dance party, a free performance by Bostonist's minor obsession St. Vincent, and some sort of treasure hunt. Museum of Fine Arts, 6 p.m. Free.
Dancing Hipsters
-- The Enormous Room offers free drinks. Also, DJs Lauren Flax (NYC) and Redd Foxx (Beantown) will be spinning. Sponsored by LAB and Mishka NYC. The Enormous Room, 567 Mass. Ave., Cambridge, 9 p.m. Free.
Wheeled Violence
-- If you are a woman and want to be thrown on your ass whilst skating, you now have your opportunity. Boston's Derby Dames host an Open Skate, which comprises a skate clinic and a tryout. Skateland, 19 Railroad Ave., Haverhill, 8 p.m.
