Wednesday Happenings

wirechairsmissing.jpgRock

-- It's been 22 years since art rockers Wire first got together, and I suppose we can consider them classic rock by now. Remember that the time when they sued Elastica for swiping a riff? That wasn't very punk rock. That wasn't very punk rock at all. Middle East Downstairs, 472 Mass. Ave., Cambridge, 8 p.m. $18/$20.

Women in Rock

-- Berklee's Women in Rock series addresses not only the gender discrepancy in the dying genre, but the racial one as well. The series culminates tonight with a program including Cindy Blackman, Felicia Collins, Siedah Garrett, Nona Hendryx, Joyce Kennedy, and Meshell Ndegeocello. Berklee Performance Center, 136 Mass. Ave., 8:15 p.m. $10 donation.
