-- Cross the Harbor for a rare look at the vibrant art that has been popping up all over East Boston. The East Boston Open Studios features work from more than 50 artists. Get started at the New England Gallery for Latin American Art or the Atlantic Works Gallery, which anchor the event. Various Locations, East Boston, 12 p.m. (through Sunday). Free.

Low Lives

-- Boston By Foot, the 32-year-old nonprofit touring company, presents The Dark Side of Boston, a stroll through the seediest moments in Boston's history. Starting in the North End (naturally), the tour will cover the Molasses Flood, the Brink's Job, and Boston's history of organized crime. Forget the well-coiffed patriots for an afternoon and learn about Bostonians with grit under their fingernails. Starts at Martignetti's Liquor Store, Salem and Hanover Sts., North End, 5:30 p.m. $12.

Pink Tags

-- The second Pink Pens in Purses showcase brings Boston's female graffiti writers out of the shadows for an art exhibition. View work by Ali Horeanopoulos, Ashley B. Clark, Genie B, Silver Oris, Shayna Shenanigans and tofusquirrel. DJ Kares spins. The Lab, 113 Brighton Ave., Allston, 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. $5.

Comedy

-- Comedian Mike Birbiglia, a Shrewsbury homeboy, brings his one-man, off-Broadway show Sleepwalk with Me to Boston tonight. Check out Bostonist's interview with the funnyman. Wilbur Theatre, 246 Tremont St., 8 p.m. $25-$35.
