Tuesday Happenings

FrenchCheeses-300.jpgBeer Dinners

-- The Cambridge Common's monthly beer dinners have become an event to anticipate. This month, they've joined with western Mass. hopsmasters Berkshire Brewery for an autumn-themed feast. Quaff Berkshire's Lost Sailor IPA, Steel Rail Pale Ale, Traditional Ale, and Imperial Stout-Raspberry Strong Infusion. Oh, and there will be food to eat, too. Cambridge Common, 1667 Mass. Ave., Cambridge, 6:30 p.m. $39.

Declaring Oneself

-- Bow Wow (f/k/a Lil Bow Wow) is walking across America to register people to vote. (His slogan, "Declare Yourself" is friendly, if not as catchy as Diddy's 2004 mantra "Vote or Die.") Bow Wow arrives in Boston today with fellow hip-hop artist Bun B, Joell Ortiz, and local Khmer. And here's your reminder: Tomorrow is the deadline to register to vote in Massachusetts. Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center, 1350 Tremont St., 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Free. More information.

Fromages

-- Nothing is more important to French people than cheese, except, possibly, bureaucracy. Boston's French Library hosts cheese expert Ihsan Gurdal, who will lead a four flight cheese tasting, complete with wine pairings. Boston French Library, 53 Marlborough St., 6:30 p.m. $65/$50 with reservation (617.912.0400).

Music

-- Throw Joy Division and the Velvet Underground in a blender with PJ Harvey and you get the Cold War Kids. Here's a spoiler alert: The singer is a dude. Paradise Rock Club, 967 Comm. Ave., 8 p.m. Sold out.
