Much as we respect what Jonathan Papelbon is able to do on a mound -- and the way the guy knows how to celebrate -- we're going to call shenanigans on a remark he made Friday down in Florida.
The quote came during the media/workout session at the Trop. The word of Pap: "After last night, you've seen it all."
If Boston fans have any say in it, they're ready to see more. Two more ALCS games, specifically, and a pennant. And the man of the hour is going to be Josh Beckett, who maintains that he's fine and is ready to go. Time will tell, but we're liking the momentum and we're ready to stay up late -- again -- if we need to.
In former Red Sox news, the Yankees have their eyes on Derek Lowe. The Yanks are interested in acquiring a top-notch pitcher, and among the candidates are Lowe, CC Sabathia and A.J. Burnett. Yes, they're also considering talking to Manny, but pitching is at the forefront of the pinstriped mind. We'd remark on this, but our spot in the postseason is precarious enough that we don't want to sound cocky. Wait until after we learn the Sox fate, maybe then we'll snark remark.
On the Pats front, the Suspicious Seven have officially been labeled as "doubtful" on Monday: Maroney, Jordan, Washington, Alexander, Kaczur, Green and Wilhite. Gulp.
