Thursday Happenings: 10/23

adam-bomb.jpgPopsicle Names

We're shocked that Swedish singer Lykke Li (pronounced "licky lee" or "looky lee," depending on who you ask) doesn't yet have her own popsicle brand. You know, because her voice is so sweet. Paradise, 967 Comm Ave, 9 pm. $15.

Garbage Pail Kids

Yeah, Art Spiegelman did some other stuff, but we most fondly remember these kitchy trading cards with exploding baby heads. Spiegelman reads from his latest collection, Breakdowns, at the Brattle. 40 Brattle St, Cambridge, 6 pm. $30 (gets you a copy of the book, too).

Bjorkestra

Jazz orchestra performs Bjork songs. Bjork not included. Regattabar, Charles Hotel, One Bennett Street, Cambridge, 7:30pm. $15.

Beyond Belief

A movie about two 9/11 widows who go abroad to help widows in Afghanistan. Responding to tragedy with empathy? That's certainly beyond belief. Remis Auditorium, Museum of Fine Arts, 465 Huntington Avenue, 8 pm. $10.

Singer-Songwriter Brilliance

Longtime musicians Willard Grant Conspiracy, Chris Brokaw, and Drew O'Doherty light up the Lily Pad. 1353 Cambridge Street, Cambridge, 10pm. $10.

Phone Banks

Apparently everyone would like you to telephonically harass undecided folks into voting. All over, all day, free.
