Sports Redux: Chicago Gets Bull-ied

2159578473_8838a17d9d_m.jpgThe Celtics are doing all in their power to show that 2008 wasn't a one-time deal. Rather than encountering that pesky second game letdown, Boston positively stomped over the Bulls, 96-80, at the Garden on Friday night. The team leapt out to an early lead, limiting Chicago opportunities during a big 24-13 first quarter and kept the momentum going from there. Kevin Garnett notched 18 points and 10 rebounds during three quarters of play, which Pierce and Allen added 14 points. Also chipping in 14? Rajon Rondo, whose fourth-year option pickup was announced Friday (hallelujah!).

Speaking of options, the Red Sox announced that they have exercised their option on Tim Wakefield. We'll have Wake back for his 15th season, which we're sure will draw some strong reactions from both the pro- and anti-Tim groups. Personally, we like consistency and we're glad to have him back.

Surprising to absolutely no one, Mark Teixeira is at the top of the Elias player rankings this year.
