It's election day, 2008, and it might be the most important election of this Bostonist's life. Go vote. Do it for us, if you aren't doing it for yourself, your favorite political candidate, or David Byrne. Find your polling place here.
Most polls close at 8 p.m. After that, go find a place to watch elections results. If you don't have any friends, join one of the many election parties that will be going down tonight. Here are a couple of Bostonist-approved choices:
-- Roxbury rapper Edo G will Barack the Vote tonight with compatriots Slaine, Akrobatik, Indifferent Arts, and DJ On and On. If there were a more appropriate way to celebrate the election of the hip hop generation's first black president (or to mourn his lamentable defeat) than by partying with Boston's best rap crews, we cannot think of one. Middle East Downstairs, 472 Mass. Ave., Cambridge, 8 p.m. $15.
-- We've already told you about Boston News Net's election day special. If that didn't get you fired up about the event, you're probably a Republican. ImprovBoston, 40 Prospect St., Cambridge, 8 p.m. $20/$15.
If what you really want to do is drink, CultureMob has a handy list of election night parties, both partisan and nonpartisan. And don't forget all the free goodies available to voters. It's like the old days of political machines and walking around money but nonpartisan and less lucrative.
