Drinking in Boston: No Debate Beer

ObamaAle.jpgIf your team won the election Tuesday, you know that there’s no better way to celebrate than by clinking some cool brews together. The question is always what kind. With Barack Obama as our president elect, there’s no question. No, we don’t know his favorite beer, but we do know our favorite political ale: Hop Obama!

Hop Obama, brewed by Brooklyn’s Sixpoint Craft Ales from New York, was originally released on March 12th with the intention of tapping through to the end of the Democratic primary hiatus on April 22nd. It was available only in a very select number of bars in New York and Massachusetts.

In other words, if you got to sample it, you’re very lucky. But according to Cambridge Common Restaurant, we’re all getting a second chance. They have stated that starting today they’ll be pouring the winning beer.

So, what exactly can you expect from Hop Obama as a beer? Well, Sixpoint says it has “five different kinds of European crystal malt and three different kinds of Pacific Northwest hops” and “a Scottish yeast strain.” Hm. What does that equate to, exactly? According to them: “a big malt background and an ‘Obama’ of hops.” Oh, geez.

There are, of course, some more important questions than taste in this matter. For instance, will ANYONE else be pouring it?! We haven’t heard a peep yet, so if you know something, LET ALL OF US KNOW! Every blue beer drinker out there is going to want a pint, no contest.
