The Kids

-- If there are two bands that represent the continued vitality of rock music, they are Atlanta's Deerhunter and Columbus, OH's Times New Viking. Deerhunter harvests the same shush-loud psychedelic fields of punk rock that the early Yo La Tengo used to till. Simply killer. The Paradise Rock Club, 967 Comm. Ave., 7 p.m. $14.

The Latin Harp

Castañeda hails from Colombia and fuses Latin jazz with the traditional music of his home. Tonight, his trio joins forces with Berklee's Las Americas Faculty Big Band, featuring Diego Urcola, Victor Mendoza, Oscar Stagnaro, Leo Blanco, Bernardo Hernández, and Tito Puente. Berklee Performance Center, 136 Mass. Ave., 8:15 p.m. $10/$5/$2.
