Artists Under the Dome

artists-dome.jpgThe Second Annual Artists Under the Dome Event
Thursday, November 13
10am - 3:30pm
Great Hall, Massachusetts State House (24 Beacon Street)
RSVP

Massachusetts artists of all stripes—including us here writers, we hope—are invited to the State House tomorrow to hobnob with politicos. From the event flyer and official invite, it looks like many innovative artists were involved in the planning and promotion of this event. Several con artists politicians will speak, including Senate President Therese Murray, State Treasurer Tim Cahill, Senator John Hart Jr., and various state representatives. There will be opportunities to meet with folks from the Massachusetts Cultural Council and Massachusetts Film Office, as well as other state agencies such as the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners and Massachusetts Office of Business Development; the meetings with officials take the form of speeches, Q&A sessions, and a "brown bag lunch" (you've got to bring your own--no sustenance for starving artists at the State House). This is an opportunity for artists to network with politicians, learning how to use state resources to promote that most mysterious of endeavors, art. Look up your state representatives and prepare some remarks before you go tomorrow to ensure that you know who to meet and how to convince them that your art merits money.
