No local games yesterday.
The Celtics spent yesterday catching their breath, and in Brian Scalabrine's case, wishing the fans wouldn't single him out so much. Top draft pick J.R. Giddens, who hasn't been seen on the court yet, is on his way to Utah to get some minutes with the Celtics' D-League team.
The Bruins still feel good about themselves even after their winning streak was snapped. "It wasn’t like the circus was back in town," says Tim Thomas, they just hit a bad patch. They're in Toronto tonight, trying to solidify their division lead.
The Patriots watched as the rest of the NFL went to work. If they're like us, they're more fired up about the Philly/Cincinnati tie and the impending showdown between (potentially) 11-0 Tennessee and (99% probability) 0-11 Detroit on Thanksgiving than on anything else that happened yesterday. Except maybe that weird-ass ending to the Pitt/SD game; we're pretty sure Norv Turner spent the entire night on the Heinz Field sideline, mouth open, looking like a guy watching his bait shop being padlocked by the man from the bank.
And apparently, the Red Sox were prepared to suspend Manny in July for his flighty behavior. They wrote a letter, they got a couple of encouraging phone calls from an unnamed Red Sox player and from Manny (or possibly someone doing a passable Manny impression) and they let it go until they traded him. Everyone was unavailable for comment except Manny's agent Scott Boras, who's always always always available for comment (he doesn't think this is newsworthy and thinks Manny is the greatest hitter ever and totally worth $24m a year, was the gist of his quote).
So that's that. Back to work tonight.
