If there was ever any doubt that the Boston Bruins are the Rodney Dangerfield of Boston sports' Big Four (sorry, Revs), today confirms it. The black and gold dragged their exhausted selves onto the ice in Toronto on Monday night to face down the Leafs and continue a schedule that has them playing 10 games in 18 days. They won, 3-2, proving again the Boston hockey can consistently win. Phil Kessel, Matt Hunwick and Michael Ryde notched the goals for the B's.
And the front pages of the Boston news site sports sections today? All about today's announcement of baseball's American League MVP battle.
With all due respect to Kevin Youkilis and Dustin Pedroia (this Bostonist wants a MVPedroia shirt, so you see where our vote would have been cast), COME ON. This Bruins organization is unlike any we've seen in recent memory, and it's still can't get the respect it deserves. The Bruins advertising campaign we've seen at T stops and outside the Garden says that the Bruins "want it as bad as you do." The question is: how badly do Boston fans want it?
Speaking of no respect, a word about Tim Thomas. Another 28 big saves on Monday night and what feels like 47 rounds of shootouts already this season leaves one scratching one's head about why this guy isn't on the ballot for the All-Star Game. Since nothing in this day and age is official without a Facebook group, joining the write-in campaign has never been easier.
