Opera Boston Underground: Virtue
Lizard Lounge, 1667 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge
7pm, 21+, $10 (no advance tickets, and there's always a line)
We've said it before, but it's worth saying again: never pass up an opportunity to enjoy opera whilst drinking beer. Opera Boston's cabaret auxiliary Opera Boston Underground offers that chance (for the first time since February) at the Lizard Lounge, where delicious, toasty Cape Ann Fisherman's Ale will be available on cask.
Tonight's program, featuring regulars Glorivy Arroyo and Christian Figueroa, is organized around the Seven Virtues, respresented by a variety of contemporary and twentieth-century works—kindness from Britten, courage from Schubert, patience from Harbison, and so forth—with one song from Camelot to cover them all—"The Seven Deadly Virtues". (We've been promised a concert of Vices, to follow at a later date.)
