Art for Sale
-- The SMFA holds its annual art sale a month early this year. The December Sale has been renamed InsideOut but still offers the same host of bargains on work by the school's faculty, alumni, and students, any of whom could easily be the Next Big Thing. Look at it as an investment, and it's less risky than the stock market. Probably. Look at it as a chance to get awesome art on the cheap and you can't go wrong. School of the Museum of Fine Arts, 230 The Fenway, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. (through November 23). Free.
Dudes
-- Houston's rapping comedian Devin the Dude really likes weed. In fact, he raps about little else. Remember kids, Question 2 hasn't become law yet. Performing with Coughee Brothaz. The Middle East Downstairs, 472 Mass. Ave., Cambridge, 8 p.m. $15.
Wine
-- With all of the other shopping you have to do for Thanksgiving, it's easy to forget about the wine. Pairing wine with turkey and cranberries might be beyond your expertise, but our friends at The Second Glass magazine have you covered. Their Crash Course Wine Seminar will introduce you to between four and six wines that pair easily with holiday fixings. Turkey and other treats included in admission. Downtown Wine & Spirits, 225 Elm St., Somerville, 7 p.m. $15.
Invocations, Wizards
-- Harry Smith, the weirdo responsible for the Anthology of American Music (1952), was also a formidable experimental filmmaker and the type of dude who spelled magic with a "k." His freaked-out films feature extensive use of collage, hand painting, and physical manipulation of the film stock. Heaven and Earth Magick (1957-62), also known as No. 12, is about a woman whose dog has stolen her watermelon. It might be his masterpiece. Screening with No. 10/Mirror Animations (1957) and his disciple Kenneth Anger's Invocation of My Demon Brother (1969). Presented by the MassArt Film Society. Screening Room 1, Film Department, Massachusetts College of Art, 621 Huntington Ave, 8 p.m. $4 (free for MassArt Students).
