Ladies United for the Preservation of Endangered Cocktails threw an swell party last night in the South End. Their 1940s-themed "USO Show," whose proceeds will benefit lady veterans at the the New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans, was a delightful combination of patriotism and decadence, filling the church-shaped Jorge Hernandez Cultural Center to the choir loft with bowties, cocktails, roller derby girls, swing dancing, seamed stockings, sailor suits, chocolate, oysters, burlesque ladies, and pretty much everything that makes for a good night out.

Hey, waitaminute. Who're you calling a snood? (That's me, in the middle of that upper middle of that shot, in the charcoal suit, sporting an actual tie bar, visiting your fine city from Philadelphia, only to find that none of my local friends were hip enough to come along to the LUPEC event. So maybe the description is appropriate, but still...)
(Yes, I do know that you actually mean the headgear on the lady towards the front. Shush.)
(I was, in fact, pretty sure that you knew that I know what a snood is.)
