Rock
-- Bostonist has heard that the kids love Marnie Stern, a New York prog rock outfit, and, for once, we have to yield to the kids' superior judgment. Marnie Stern's music sounds like Yes played at 45RPM with vocals from Belinda Carlisle, which could be much more disastrous than it is. Playing with Boston noise crew HoAg. Church of Boston, 69 Kilmarnock St., 9 p.m. $8/$9.
-- The King Khan & BBQ Show is a Quebecois outfit that plays swampy garage rock. Performing with Golden Triangle, a Brooklyn band that does likewise. Paradise Rock Club, 967 Comm. Ave., 7 p.m. $12.
Unfinished Welles
-- The HFA presents a second helping of Orson Welles Rarities with snippets from his unfinished work, including his notorious projects The Deep and Don Quixote. Harvard Film Archive, 24 Quincy St., Cambridge, 7 p.m. $8/$6.
Centenaries, Continued
-- The NEC continues to celebrate the 100th birthday of American composer Elliott Carter, and Bostonist continues to be amazed by the volume of music he has written. Tonight, the Borromeo Sting Quartet performs Sting Quartet No. 1. Jordan Hall, New England Conservatory, 30 Gainsborough St., 8 p.m. Free.
