Amanda Palmer (re)Belly(on) Controversy

Feministing tells us that Roadrunner Records apparently asked Dresden Doll Amanda Palmer to cut images of her "fat" belly from her new music video, "Leeds United" (above). (Maybe that's just what happens when you're on the same label as Nickelback?) It's rumored that Palmer has left the label over the lipid lividity, but her blog doesn't confirm this.

Palmer's fans are leading a Rebellyon against Roadrunner's request, submitting pictures of their bellies in support of Palmer's own. We personally don't see fat on Palmer's stomach, which barely makes an appearance in the video anyway (check out those eyebrows, though!). But even if Palmer were obese, we think she should be able to flaunt as much tummy as she pleases. The "Leeds United" video is exciting, but we enjoyed this touching belly tribute as well.

I demand to see the six pack abs and firm yet supple bellies of every last (male and female) rep at Roadrunner Records. Also, I would like a full report on the body composition of every Roadrunner artist who appears in a video, just to see if Amanda is being held to a consistant standard. *snort*

Ceci n'est-ce pas une belly. I'm not sure what's the best part of all of this--Roadrunner's complete ignorance of the kind of artist Amanda and the Dolls have always been or the statement she reports on her blog on the matter: the A&R rep saying "I'm a man. I know what people like."
