Buying Shit from Your Neighbors
-- Bostonist spent the week previewing the Bazaar Bizarre, and now you have the chance to see it in person. It's a chance to finish your holiday shopping while supporting local artisans. The Castle at Park Plaza (Arlington St. & Columbus Ave.), noon to 7 p.m. $1.
David Bowie
-- You hated David Bowie in the tedious The Man Who Fell to Earth, you loved him in Labyrinth, but, have you ever seen him play a prisoner of war? Now's your chance. Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence (1983), Nagisa Oshima's adaptation of the memoir of a World War II POW, screens as a part of the HFA's Oshima retrospective. Harvard Film Archive, Carpenter Center, 24 Quincy St., Cambridge, 7 p.m. $8/$6.
Getting Funky
-- UK Funky is a relatively new genre of dance music fusion blending three musical forms not native to the UK: house, soca, and afrobeat. Dubwise and Soul Champion bring the music to Boston, taking a few detours through the dubstep and grime genres. The Enormous Room, 567 Mass. Ave., Cambridge, 9:30 p.m. Free.
Panda Rock
-- The UK hasn't cornered the market on fusion. Rochester, NY ensemble Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad plays a hybrid of reggae and afrobeat that doesn't venture so far into hippieland as to lose its funky edge. Middle East Upstairs, 472 Mass. Ave., Cambridge, 9 p.m. $10.
