Last month, proposition 8 protests were huge in Boston and around the nation. Tomorrow, December 10, it's time to "call in gay" to work and protest the prop 8 "H8" and other discriminatory measures nationwide.
Day without a Gay is a movement asking people to call in gay to work tomorrow, and spend the day volunteering to advance equal rights for all. Massachusetts volunteer opportunities range from data entry to assembling safer sex packs, and you can add your own volunteer opps to the website if your nonprofit needs help.
Even if you can't miss work, there's a lot you can do to help. Contact your government representatives and ask them to support the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), which would protect lesbian and gay workers. Above all, just raise awareness that you support gay and lesbian rights, and there's no reason for others not to. We may take equality for granted in Massachusetts, but that doesn't mean it exists everywhere.
