A Speedoed Santa Speaks!

philbrown.jpgAfter seeing our photo gallery of yesterday's Santa Speedo Run many of you may have wondered what kind of person would have the tenacity to strip down to spandex and run around spreading Christmas cheer so liberally. Bostonist was fortunate enough to catch up with first-time Santa Speedo Runner Phil Brown during his post-run celebration to learn what it takes.

Bostonist: How did you prepare for this event?

I drank and got naked.

Did you go Speedo shopping?

I did. I went to Sports Authority. One stop shopping. They had one color and I went with it.

Did you feel the Christmas spirit?

I did! I felt it from everyone. It was warm, it kept me warm.

What was your favorite costume that you saw?

I liked the reindeer who were pulling the sled. Good team effort. I like to see that around the holidays.

Is this your first year running? Will it be your last? Or first of many?

I think it will become part of my calendar.

On a scale of really freezing to perfectly warm: how cold were you?

I'd say if 1 was really freezing I was at a 3 or 4. It really wasn't bad once you get going, the Christmas spirit kept me warm.

Another trick the Speedoed Santas used to keep warm? Some very athletic Christmas caroling:
