Friday Happenings

In_the_Realm_of_Senses_Poster.jpgMovies

-- Nothing says "holiday cheer" like In the Realm of the Senses (1976), Nagisa Oshima's explicit tale of sex and murder. Based on a true story. The last ten minutes are not for the squeamish. Harvard Film Archive, Carpenter Center, 24 Quincy St., Cambridge, 7 p.m. $8/$6.

Sluts, Cracking

-- The Slutcracker had such successful B.O. last week that it's back for a return engagement. Somerville Theatre, 55 Davis Square, 8 p.m. $15/$20.

Handjobs

-- The Holiday Handjobs arts and crafts sale is the not-so-subtly named holiday market from local queer arts organizers Truth Serum. The event features stuff to buy, a performance by a lunch lady drag queen, music from DJ Mark E Moon, and dance numbers. Benefiting $pread Magazine. Dilboy VFW Hall, Davis Square, Somerville, 7 p.m. $2.

White Boys

-- It's a bill featuring mostly white performers playing their versions of world music, from ska to afrobeat. It's the Macrotones CD release party, also featuring the reunited Mass Hysteria, The Void Union, and Thousands of One. Middle East Upstairs, 472 Mass. Ave., Cambridge, 9 p.m. $10.

Sadly, Holiday Handjobs has been postponed due to the storm heading our way... It should be rescheduled for sometime between now and Valentine's Day.

Oh, and despite the storm, you can still support the Holiday Handjobs artists and check out their work by visiting the website at http://www.holiday-handjobs.com/.
