Boston Blotter: Catching up on Crime

-- Jason Duran, a 33-year-old from Providence, was shot dead outside a Christmas party in Mattapan early Christmas day. [BPDNews]

-- A 19-year-old man was shot in the hip on Tremont St. in Downtown Crossing on the day after Christmas. The daylight shooting took place outside the Expressions store. No bystanders were injured by gunfire and Boston police have yet to name a suspect. The shooting has fueled alarm among some Bostonians. [Globe]

-- Boston police are looking for a robber who has knocked over stores up and down Newbury St. and near Kenmore. The man was caught in the act by surveillance cameras in a Starbucks on Brookline Ave., which show him allegedly demanding money by way of written note. [BPDNews]

-- Kimberly Carmella Savini, a 30-year-old Somerville woman, was arraigned on Monday on charges that she stabbed her boyfriend, Arnaldo Amado, to death. The couple were known to police due to repeated domestic violence complaints on the part of both parties. [Somerville Journal]

-- A man who was possibly high on drugs vandalized a gas station, pretended to swim through the air, and "mounted" a police car "sideways," according to authorities. [Somerville Journal]
