Movies
-- Last month, we begged you to go see the Nagisa Oshima retrospective at the HFA. Did you ignore us? Well, fate has given you a second chance. Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence (1983) features David Bowie as a prisoner of war. It's a role that makes up for everything he did wrong in The Man Who Fell to Earth. In the Realm of the Senses (1976), Oshima's art porn, is probably his most widely seen film outside of Japan. Screening as single features. Brattle Theatre, 40 Brattle St., Cambridge. Through January 8. Tickets and showtimes.
Bluesmen
-- Luther "Guitar Junior" Johnson is one of the few surviving bluesmen from the golden era of the Chicago blues. He's played with everyone from Muddy Waters to the Rolling Stones and had a cameo in Blues Brothers. Johnny D's Uptown, 17 Holland St., Somervile, 9:45 p.m. $15.
Drawings
-- More than 40 artists from Boston and elsewhere like to make drawings, and their work is on display at Draw Drawings Every Day, a group show curated by Alex Feinstein and Mike Dacey. No word on the admission policies for bum lookers or cheeky monkeys. Washington Street Art Center, 321 Washinton St., Somerville, 6 p.m. Free.
