A couple of weeks ago, Bostonist sat at the Chinatown RMV for an hour and a half, waiting to get our driver's license. While we waited, a man tried to get an ID card using the wrong proof-of-address. The RMV examiner sent him away, only to see him return 15 minutes later with a slightly less dubious proof-of-address. What transpired was almost worth the $90 cover charge.
RMV Employee: What neighborhood do you live in, sir?
Customer: Dorchester, like it says on the paper.
RMV E: You don't live in Dorchester.
C: Yes I do.
RMV E: This address is in Roxbury. Tell me again, what neighborhood do you live in?
C: I live in Dorchester.
RMV E: (Raises his voice.) You do not live in Dorchester. If you lived in Dorchester, your zip code would be 02121, 02122, 02124, 02125. Your zip code is in Roxbury. Tell me, one last time. Do you live in Roxbury or Dorchester?
C: Dorchester.
RMV E: (Throws up his hands.) I'm just going to put "Boston."
