Since the professional teams were taking a breather on Monday, attention could turn to the college circuit - more precisely, activity over at the Boston College end of the B line. The possibility that football coach Jeff Jagodzinski interviewed for a coaching gig with the New York Jets means that Eagles fans should prepare for a new coach come next year.
Now here's the thing that's interesting about this whole matter: it's not clear that Jagodzinski had an interview with the New York brass. It's not clear that Jagodzinski is any kind of front-runner in terms of the professional coaching position. The only thing that's clear is that the folks at BC are miffed because they want to know that their coach is sticking around for awhile. Or they want to know if he's interviewing for high-profile jobs that will get noticed in sporting circles everywhere.
As the Globe puts it, describing Athletic Director Gene DeFilippo's perspective, "Even if Jagodzinski cancels the interview, DeFilippo feels that the issue of trust has been breached, which would make it difficult for Jagodzinski to return."
We don't want to think about it today, but that Teixeira guy is officially going to be welcomed to that other team today. But there's better news: the Bruins are set to host Minnesota and the Celtics are down in Charlotte.
