Dancing Hipsters
-- The Hearthrob dance party is the place to go if you want creepy men in trucker hats to take pictures of you while you are drunk and post them on the internet. On the other hand, beats from Red Foxx, Morgan Louis, and Baltimoroder might make you forget that you took a digger on the sidewalk yesterday. Middlesex Lounge, 315 Mass. Ave., Cambridge, 9 p.m. Free.
Movies
-- Okay, there still isn't that much going on in Boston. Does anybody know what's up with that? At any rate, since another Bostonist virtually dared us to mention Nagisa Oshima again, we are doing so. Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence (1983) features David Bowie as a prisoner of war. It's a role that makes up for everything he did wrong in The Man Who Fell to Earth. In the Realm of the Senses (1976), Oshima's art porn, is probably his most widely seen film outside of Japan. Screening as single features. Brattle Theatre, 40 Brattle St., Cambridge. Through January 8. Tickets and showtimes.
