Wednesday Happenings

Mglogo_copy.jpg Afrobeat

-- Femi Kuti is the oldest son of Fela Kuti, the legendary founder of Afrobeat. While Femi doesn't share his father's fiery and confrontational political views—Femi's politics are much more conciliatory—he did inherit Fela's chops. Femi's latest, Day By Day is a thrilling return to Afrobeat basics. Paradise Rock Club, 967 Comm. Ave., 9 p.m. This show has been postponed.

Living Game Shows

-- Leave it to the hipsters of JP to resurrect The Match Game, the tittering seventies game show of double entendre and minor celebrity. Butler's Choice, a comedy troupe, will recreate the show and its sleaze for a live audience. Milky Way Lounge, 403 Centre St., Jamaica Plain, 9 p.m. $5.

Dancing Hipsters

-- When Cosmo Baker was 16, he was already a legendary DJ in Philadelphia. A renowned beat digger, remixer, and amateur historian, Baker has rocked parties in every major city on the east coast. Best known for spinning hip hop (and throwing in a few rock records), Baker brings his funk and soul crates (or hard drive) to Soul Touch tonight. Middlesex Lounge, 315 Mass. Ave., 9 p.m. Free.
